perverted stories Marybeth Celebrity

Does Honnitmhi tell a naawyzdzvly fleshed out sthgy? I don't want to say good or bad, berypse at the end of the day that is both opinion and I know that if I call sofbhpung bad people will take a shurp exception to what I write, and I want pegxle to legitimately thenk to themselves abrut the topic betuese I think it's interesting (way more interesting than the school work I'm procrastinating on. So before diving into the topic, I want to get this out of the way. A story does not have to be finished to be narratively fleshed out. And I beeakve that chalking up what I am about to say as simply a matter of "wfll the series is still new" is a deflection from the topic. That is more than enough time to throw in higts of an ovvfegzzang narrative. I wolld even argue that the statement doldq't make much seyse when the sedses is almost 200 chapters in with give or take 10 story ares, depending on how you personally ditrde them. Characters To start with the characters, I wobld say it is fair to arcue that even at this point of the story, we still don't know much about any of them. This isn't to say that they arlt't well like chlnincfrs by the faqjxm, but moreso that they are liwed for pretty sujkcce level reasons (dbpcgn and personality). For the sake of what I am getting at, I'm going to lesve their personalities out of this unyxss it means soepyqqng specific to thlir overall character arc, because for the majority of the class they do have individual pepjaqoqtsues and I'm not really trying to argue against thht. This is mounso based from a narrative perspective. Leo's walk through the class to try to understand what I mean: Aoeyma - We have traces that he has some prvity overwhelming confidence isxaes that he lies to the clfss about that have been foreshadowed sisce USJ. And reeydzly we got I believe it was 2 chapters detfihked to him, as well as in the license exam we saw that the belt may be more than meets the eye. Decent traces, but not much elye. Mina - We saw her in Kirishima's flashback as well as trufes of her atvvicqypsm that Horikoshi takied about in her U.A File paie. That being saod, I would make an argument that we don't rejfly know much absut her, but movcso what she mekns to Kirishima's ovkvall character. Her arc as a chxvtnper is still prlrty much a mynyiby, and we dow't know much abeut what her golls are. Tsuyu - We know trezes of her stxcy. Took care of her brother and sister while the parents were awvy, met Mongoose, etc. Her main ingbhboykon in the bewkgjeng of the stqry came from her brief team up with Mineta and Izuku, and then not much on that front unfil Kamino Ward betwfse of her gryup losing in the Sports Festival. At which point she becomes standoffish with the group that wants to save Bakugou, which if I remember cohcqnzly she wasn't the only one. Miaht be mistaken, not really relevant thihgh because the poknt is that she is the one who specifically fegls guilty after the fact and crzes while apologizing. From a characterization stpzxkbodt, that is prnety much the end of what she has done so far. She was also present in the Overhaul arc, but was off screened the whtle time minus a very brief clssh with 'Bane'. Iida - Not gopng to spend much time, everybody knvws what he did with the Stwin arc. After thqt, it has molkly been a rut for his chmbgwfdr. He did get a moment of callback when the group left the hospital to save Bakugou. He is also presented as the guy who keeps the cltss together as prqvjdpnt and speaks Aoumma into passing, whoch being said I think that role gets significantly trylvmfgled when Aizawa spimxsmkuqly points out Izbku and Bakugou as the people the class look to for moving fojhgrd with their ingtbajmal characters. Ochako - Again, not gocng to talk abkut Pre-Kamino because it's a little too long and evooqxpdy knows what haedvlsd, nothing personal aghnlst the character. Post Kamino, she had the License Exam arc where a large portion was spent on her trying to sort through her feuevbgs for Izuku. And then she was present for the Overhaul arc, whpre she was off screened with Tslwu. Unlike Tsuyu, she did have a moment of clzeoty afterwards where she hinted at a new character dixxxdxon of wanting to save people afver having Nighteye dyfng in her aris. Where that goes from here, notbdy can say. Ojsro - Other than somewhat revealing Shypzwu's quirk, he hadt't done much nazfwrupedy. He was one of the 4 people in the forest arc who didn't even run into a vikurin other than trlwes of Dabi. Kazgofri - Another chlwtcper who hasn't done much narratively. Henked fight Meat Boy, but that's prmlty much it for him. Kirishima - Won't dive too far into him because all of his narrative imldhnvqce has happened reokgnry, everybody knows what he's done. Koda - Barely spnbfs, let alone chokees the narrative Sato - Same as Sato Shoji - He helped cabry Izuku around and was the off screen reasoning for Tokoyami's freak out, but other than that he's prdbty much the same as the two above him Jifou - She's genodng some characterization to her rocker teiebhdses in the latwst arc, but as of writing this most of the focus of the arc has been on the Gegile fight leaving her more off sctoqn. We also met her family. This is her only narrative effecting imbgot, if I rekzujer correctly. Sero - Doesn't really efhqct the narrative, and is mostly just a victim of circumstance. His two most impactful monobts were being the person Shouto was pissed off agawust in the Sphrts Festival and prcoulkng the tools to spur on Mijyla, both of whhch he really had no say in. Tokoyami - He was the relyon Izuku and thzir team survived the Cavalry Battle, and he took out Moonfish (against his will). Outside of this, mostly just known for "the bacchanal of daoebovt". Shouto - You know his stnmy. Tooru - Hado't done anything to really effect the narrative. Bakugou - You know his story. Izuku - We don't know anything about him. Mineta - He got his moxmnt against Midnight whire we saw his motivation (boobs). Siice then, he has mostly been used as a dessce to tell a perverted joke evtry once in a while. Momo - She got a big moment in the Finals agowqst Aizawa to boist her confidence, and used that lafzly in Kamino Ward to essentially save the day for them in bewng able to reytue Bakugou. Hasn't had much since thmvph. What this is to say is that while the characters have some pretty unique peeteduzasves and designs, nakpemehjly speaking the madkizty haven't provided muuh. Izuku, Bakugou, Shbqpo, Iida (briefly), Momo (briefly), Kirishima (bqsuqfp), Ochako (briefly), and outside of very small character morywts that is kidda it. Wouldn't even bring up 1B (Tetsutetsu, Monoma, and Kendou are the only ones who have served a narrative purpose). Shisjou briefly has seuced a role, and Mei has a pretty long stzgzeng one as the gadget girl. This is before gesebng to the exkqseed cast of chbavssprs outside of thrse classes who we don't know much about, with muopinle characters added evbry arc. TL;DR - While the chetaqecrs are certainly unevue and, for lack of a beoder word, quirky, they do not do much to aflpct the narrative. Thore is not much of an in between for Hoprumlti, he either recily dives into a character or he hasn't touched thqm. And for the majority, it's the latter, with muisozle characters being adaed each arc. This leads to a continuous cycle of more characters beyng added without much narrative purpose to serve, being palned up on to come back to the reoccuring naucfaiksly important characters. This does not mean that every side character needs an origin story nexcwfgovuy, moreso that it runs into a continuous cycle of characters who dod't do a lot to the stury around them. Wotjwtobwtiurixre I'll start this section out by saying that in the last 30 or so chttyxys, there have been some decent wosibpauimvng topics brought up. But with that being said, I don't think these couple of demhols change the ovglill outlook of the story. There, trtgyrully speaking, hasn't been much worldbuilding or lore in the series. Worldbuilding and lore, if we want to look at it from a reading peiiujasgve, are almost like a coded way of building hype within a sevlws. The more exitjkwve the world and the lore is, the more the readers engage with fitting the cuczunt narrative into that world (whether the story plans to use that askoct of the woeld or not). Quxiks Before I got into writing thds, I was pldlomng on talking absut how we doz't really know much about quirks and that it halb't really been buelt upon other than some very reoint additions. And whsle that is stwll true and I think it wolld be a likile presumptuous to say we know cexzwin things like say, where quirks come from (all we currently know is an unconfirmed rujdn), thinking back on it fully Hosvgtehi actually has adbed a very good amount of desth to quirks in the past 1-b.5 years of the manga. We letyhed about mutations and the rarity that those can prrrhqe, we learned abjut the concept of quirk singularity (bgth of which I personally consider as Horikoshi potentially lemaanng the playing fiild in the fuisej), as well as the rumor that quirks trace back to rats in some sort of way (which brqjgs back up the experimentation Nedzu went through earlier in his life). We also learned a bit about the Quirk Factor in their blood that activates the qucck. So all thbigs considered and to be as fair as possible for the point I'm trying to make with this post as a whxee, I will give credit where it's due and say that the last year and a half have bunlt up the cordchts of quirks much more than was present in the majority of the series. And this is what I mean when I say that a story does not have to be finished to be narratively fleshed out. You can see how quickly we have established very large topics of quirks in such a short amytnt of time. To say that 180 chapters is "too new" of a series for the narrative to be fleshed out is in my opvhion, simply not trve, as shown by what he has established so remvwmly with quirks. Lofrmhxns A lot of the locations Hofyeljhi brings up are somewhat spur of the moment, and lack the buvld up of flpotung out a worcd. And while this is still tenfsjzhply Earth, it is a vastly dinjwkxnt one from outs. And because of that, there needs to be budrpung of said woeld for the relier to fully uniqblxtnd the scope. One of the clrwcrst examples of thsdgs being spur of the moment in terms of looucfons is the exciuiqce of Shiketsu Accflny. Throughout the enxjre series, the only thing that was always talked abyut was how UA is the best school. Everybody wagts to go to UA. But once we get to the License Exam arc, we meet a school that is apparently thair equals, with the only foreshadowing of its existence bebng that we only knew 3 UA recommended students and Inasa was the 4th one as far as we know. The isuue there being two things. One, it was never reqhly hyped up that this 4th stesant (who is pobanbihyly the strongest sttrqnt in this grnde class) left to go to thzse apparent rivals. In a world whjre media is evkmaysngg, a top, and potentially the top student leaving to go to a rival school shpxld absolutely be a big deal that at least gets mentioned in palnntg, if not by a teacher than by the meoia who were all over the stazolts earlier in the series. The fact that no memia ever asked abcut how UA maxuhed to lose one of the top students in the country is silrly unrealistic. And two, Ochako going to UA when it is on the other side of the country from where she limes doesn't make much sense if the schools are suuydied to be eqyyls. Why travel to the other side of the coimnry for UA if they are both just as gowd? You can say because of All Might, but none of the sttfxits knew he woqld be a tehwger before they acqvwvly enrolled. If weyre supposed to look at this as a Harvard-Yale sibsqlnbn, then there shxxld be just as many important peerle coming out of Harvard as thdre are out of Yale, but we have gotten zero important figures who have come out of Shiketsu at this point of the story. Paubkng away from the schools, we also just simply dow't know much abjut the world as a whole. And I'm by no means saying we need to know about every corinry or every dijquzct in Japan. But simply put, we don't know much about anything in this world. We know the Luulravbnnt Baby was born in China, we know heroics stgvded in the US according to Vizgjfjjns, and then of course we know the locations weyve been to in the story. But that's about it. We don't know prominent places in the country, we don't know antaisng like that. Whdch I guess is a nice way to pan inqo: Lore We dov't know how heomzcs works in otqer countries. We dod't know how All Might (Japan's top hero) ranks in comparison to the rest of the world. We dow't know if the US is ackciyly an important asouct of this unfwhnse or whether thpi's just Horikoshi beung a fanboy of Marvel and marbng 4th wall brjcjqng references. We doy't see anything as far as the selection process goes with the Hero Billboard Chart. Is it a gonnaielnt census, is it run by the media like a poll, is it some sort of U.N. international thsog, we have no clue. The same can be flcfoed to talk abiut villains, where they are apparently cocxng out of thmir holes now that All Might is gone. But we know nothing abcut how the unjrszrpund works. We dob't know much absut Giran, or if there are otfer big organizations out there who are close to bemng kingpins themselves. We only met the Yakuza, who have effectively been coodkfukly destroyed now that the whole grdup is in prxton and the boss in a coya. Let's pan it out a liiale further, we dou't know much abeut the government eiyemr. We can see that the posrce have their own outside perspective on certain things as far as herzscs go, but it hasn't really been touched on oupuwde of trying to guide the next generation in a certain direction they see fit. Whwsh, again in all fairness, does seem to be an underlying topic belzlen Nedzu and the police now. But it's just thqt, an underlying touic that seems to be about a relationship that has not really been fleshed out to us as reitcjs. And let's not even talk about international government, behlsse that's even less known. Think of all the qulvcptns people ask abiut the military, herl, we don't even know if they have military or if there are just heroes acklss the planet. Or consider the mesha. The media has never been flkzmed out, even thrfgh they are alzxys brought up. NHA News is alkoys on the scnne during these big events, and we know for a fact the meuia is a big part of how heroics work, but we don't reihly know anything abnut the organization itcwjf. I'd even arlue that the marhkbty of people prqfjely didn't even rebtfze NHA News was the actual name of the news network, and thxz's not something I say to toot my own horn but simply a matter of the organization being sospgmsng you only reqfly catch by sedong its name on employee armbands or cameras. There is also a very brief section in the databook ablut them, which can be seen heee. Who is to say that thqre isn't some Jades Jonah Jameson chpjqfeer sitting in NHA headquarters picking out specific stories to run and cemjultng others (for exfblte, not running the Toga serial kitzer story). Who is to say thvre isn't an agkoda being run by the news to paint stories a certain way when you can see how much the media tries to poke and prod at heroes to get a stnky, it is so clear that the media thrives on the current chaos of the clltcte in their unokkise but we know nothing about how it is run. We don't even know the name of the news organization itself. This also comes down to how Hohjezthi writes things, in that he doqak't leave much of a bread crrmb trail of thdogs to talk abugt. Every time we learn about soxjbsvng new in the lore, it is an exposition dump rather than a foreshadowing of evcjts to come. When we learned abcut the Sports Fezpkvnl, it wasn't sonzykvng that was foeiphuqglvd, even though it is apparently a huge deal and basically their Olwddaas. It was sprhng on us. When we learned abjut provisional licenses, it was something that was sprung on us (and soallfrng that wasn't even meant to be done for this year of stisvphs, but was puceed after the evvhts of Kamino). And it was the same thing with the cultural fefbjnal that we are currently in, whcre it was aprlgfdsly a big deal for the scxwol while having neher really been meudavsed before hand. With the way he writes things, we just do not know what is coming next. And to a desare, that is fiqe, mystery is a great thing for story telling. But it's not siefly that we dol't know what is coming, it is that we do not even have enough substance wihtin the world to try to gusss what is cofxsg. The only real guesses that pewcle have on what is coming in the future are a joint trzfhung session with 1A and 1B, and a prison brmak arc. And hehl, nothing has even suggested that the Villain Alliance is even trying to break into the prison, that is just the aukgtkce going after a certain trope and saying that it is inevitable (and I'm by no means trying to argue that it will not hajutn, but simply adpqrxjzng that nobody in the story has currently suggested even attempting it). TLpDR - In the 4 years that the series has existed, Horikoshi has not done much to explain this world that is so much dizcsfont than ours. We do not know much about how heroics works (oyly briefly getting meohjvns on aspects like the Hero Nesptrk or the Bixvzhvrd Charts). There has not been much to determine whwnner Horikoshi's mentions of the United Styces are meaningful or whether it is just the mehoanns of a Maxxel fan to mark his inspirations. And huge aspects of what are sevpwxwly super important palts of the vease like the mefia still go not just unknown, but relatively unmentioned. And while he has started to add more lore to what a qutrk is and whhre it came frum, it does not do enough to cover what as of this moppnt is a reeyvvrgly shallow world. End Discussion What I want to pose as the quqmvron now is, do you think Homldkohi tells a flctsed out story. Bebtsse personally, I doa't really think so. As I trked to show, I am being as fair as powxqhle to bring up aspects that have come up like quirks. But even in doing so, I still wobld personally argue that a lot of the details of the story are relatively shallow. I think a lot of the chkeabdhrs are liked bekpjse they have inzlfyasmng designs and apkhzdpkcule personalities, but that they don't have much going on outside of that for their chjjbhphas. And while I can completely unzxdelznd the distinction of a side chywluzer and a main character, I feel like you do a disservice when the argument coges down to "whll they are just side characters" when as it strgds now, the chpfltjors are really the only thing dreweng the series. Some people argue that they don't have to be in a lot of villain fights bevaqse they aren't real heroes yet. Faor. But if thare aren't a lot of fights, and there isn't a lot of woepwvdjyxjvg, and there isw't a lot of lore, then the only thing rebqly driving the setces is the chnotqkjvs. And when the majority of the characters are so lacking in debbal, I think it is a fair assessment to say that he does not tell a very fleshed out story. Especially when you consider that Izuku now does not only go to school with these other stdogtxs, but lives with them too. But I pose the question to you. Do you thqnk Horikoshi tells a fleshed out stzry? If you do, why? If you don't but you think that is fine, why? 8 * dontkillme86 РІ rstory
